Arkansas State Edges ULM, 2-1

MONROE, La. - Arkansas State rallied for two unanswered goals to defeat ULM, 2-1, in Sun Belt soccer action on Friday at the ULM Soccer Complex.

The Warhawks (2-12-1, 0-6 Sun Belt) got on the board first when senior forward Tiffany Bombard netted her third goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 11th minute. Bombard, a native of Las Vegas, scored for the 17th time in her career, moving to within five goals of the school record of 22 set by Cindy Barker from 2000-03.

Arkansas State (5-8-1, 1-5 Sun Belt) answered with a goal from Kara Nitti in the 34th minute to tie match at 1-1. Michele Clark scored the game-winner for the Red Wolves in the 69th minute on a shot from just outside the top of the box.

The Red Wolves outshout ULM 17-11 for the match, including an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal. Bombard and senior midfielder Amy Porch each led the Warhawks offense with three shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Alex Holland recorded six saves in the match.

Up next, ULM will travel to Western Kentucky on Oct. 15 at 6 p.m., before wrapping up the weekend at Middle Tennessee on Oct. 17 at 1 p.m.
