MIAMI
- FIU scored four goals in the second half to defeat ULM, 5-0, on Thursday
evening in Sun Belt Conference action at the FIU Soccer Stadium.
ULM
(2-15-1, 0-9 Sun Belt) trailed just 1-0 at the break and kept the match a
one-goal margin until the 58th minute. The Warhawks took eight shots
in the match, including six that were on goal. Senior midfielder Amy Porch led
ULM with five shots.
FIU
(9-7-1, 6-3 Sun Belt) tallied its first goal in the 13th minute on a
shot from 20 yards out by April Perry. The Panthers held a 7-3 shots advantage
and a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Chelsea
Leiva scored in the 58th minute, then Nicole Diperna notched a goal
in the 66th minute as FIU took a 3-0 lead. FIU took advantage of an
own goal in the 67th minute to take a 4-0 lead. Leiva closed out the
scoring in the 69th minute with her second goal of the match.
The
Warhawks return home to face Florida Atlantic on Sunday at 11 a.m. for Senior
Day at the ULM Soccer Complex. Seniors Tiffany Bombard, Samantha Cashman, Porch
and Ashleigh Fitterer will be honored in their final home match.
