MONROE,
La. - ULM dropped a 2-0 decision to Florida Atlantic on Sunday afternoon on
Senior Day at the ULM Soccer Complex. The Warhawks outshot Florida Atlantic
15-14 in the match and 7-6 in shots on goal, but were unable to get on the
board in rainy conditions.
ULM
seniors Samantha Cashman, Tiffany Bombard, Amy Porch and Ashleigh Fitterer were
honored before and after the match in their final home appearance.
ULM
(2-16-1, 0-10 Sun Belt) trailed 1-0 for much of the match and had opportunities
to tie the score until the final minute. Alexandria Major netted a goal in the 90th
minute to give FAU a two-goal advantage.
The
Warhawks limited FAU to only two shots on goal in the second half and held a
3-2 advantage in that category for the half. ULM also outshot Florida Atlantic
8-7 in the period.
Florida
Atlantic (6-11, 5-5 Sun Belt) scored the initial goal of the match in the 21st
minute off the foot of Brittney Nash. Nash lofted a shot from the right side
over the head of ULM goalkeeper Alex Holland to give the Owls a 1-0 lead.
The two
teams played to a draw for the rest of the half. Each team took seven shots,
including four shots on goal in the first period.
Bombard
and Cashman led ULM with three shots each, while Bombard also contributed a
team-high three shots on goal. Porch, Fitterer and junior midfielder Stacey
Carmack each had two shots in the match.
The
Warhawks will wrap up the regular season on Friday on the road against rival
UL-Lafayette at 4 p.m.
