MONROE, La. – The ULM men's basketball team has been practicing for two weeks, but on Thursday's off day from on-court activities the Warhawks went through a media training session.
Professor Chris Mapp, Assistant Professor of Mass Communications and Director of Student Publications at ULM, spoke with the team for about an hour on topics such as interview skills and body language. A former sports reporter, Mapp used his own experiences to demonstrate proper techniques for dealing with the media. He also addressed social media and how student-athletes should protect themselves when dealing with Facebook and Twitter.
ULM will open the season on Friday, Nov. 12, at Texas Tech. The Warhawks will host Southeastern Oklahoma State in their home opener at Fant-Ewing Coliseum on Saturday, Nov. 20; game time for that contest is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
