MONROE,
La. - The ULM soccer team fell short, 3-1, to UALR on Friday evening at the ULM
Soccer Complex. UALR's Adrianna Queen scored in the 88th minute to extend the Trojans'
lead to 3-1. The goal was Queen's second of the match.
The
Warhawks (2-11-1, 0-5 Sun Belt) held a 9-7 shots advantage in the second half
and managed a 17-17 draw in total shots in the game. UALR (5-9-0, 1-4 Sun Belt)
had a narrow 10-8 advantage in shots on goal.
ULM
scored its lone goal of the match in the final seconds of the first half when
senior midfielder Samantha Cashman knocked home a header off a corner kick from
senior midfielder Amy Porch to cut the UALR lead to 2-1 at the break. Cashman,
a native of Las Vegas, leads the team with four goals on the season.
The
Trojans jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a pair of goals in the first 30
minutes of the match. Kristen Semko gave UALR a 1-0 lead when she netted a free
kick from 20 yards out in the sixth minute. Queen followed with her first goal
of the match at the 29:58 mark.
ULM
goalkeeper continued her stellar play in net with seven saves in the match.
Holland, a native of Las Vegas, has 21 saves in ULM's last three matches.
Freshman
forward Alyssa Lopez led the Warhawks with three shots on goal. Nine ULM
players recorded at least one shot in the match.
The
Warhawks will host Arkansas State on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the ULM Soccer
Complex.
