THIBODAUX,
La. - Alisha Allen hit a jumper with two seconds remaining to propel Nicholls
State past ULM 53-52 on Tuesday evening at the David R. Stopher Gym. The
Colonels scored the final seven points of the game to rally for the victory.
Junior
center Larrie Williams led ULM with 15 points, four rebounds and two steals,
while senior forward Sannisha Williams added 13 points and nine rebounds.
The
Warhawks (1-1) struggled to shoot the ball in its first road test of the
season. ULM managed just 36.7 percent for the game. Nicholls State finished with
a 35.0 percent clip for the game.

Babin led Nicholls State (2-0) with 15 points and five assists. Allen added 13
points and nine rebounds, including the game-winning basket.
ULM
took its biggest lead of the game at 52-46 on a layup from Sannisha Williams with
4:30 minutes to play, but were unable to score again. A pair of Nichols State
free throws cut the ULM advantage to three points with 2:50 left. Babin knocked
in a 3-pointer a minute later to get the Colonels to within one point.
ULM
used a 12-2 spurt to open the second half, capped by a 3-pointer from junior guard Kassie Courtney
at the 15:00 mark that gave the Warhawks a 33-29 lead. Sannisha Williams and Larrie
Williams combined to score nine points during that stretch.
Nicholls
State scored the final nine points of the first half to take a 27-21 lead at
the break. The Warhawks were held scoreless in the final four minutes of the
half.
ULM
shot 28.6 percent from the field in the half, while Nicholls made 39.3 percent
its shots. Larrie Williams and Sannisha Williams each had six points to pace
the Warhawks at the half.
The
Warhawks went on a 7-0 run midway through the first half to take a 15-10
advantage. Courtney hit a jumper to tie the game at 10, freshman guard Jasmine Shaw drained a
3-pointer from the wing and Sannisha Williams hit a layup to cap the run at the
12:10 mark.
The
Warhawks return home to face Northwestern State on Friday at 7 p.m. inside
Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
