SHREVEPORT,
La. - Junior guard Kassie Courtney scored a career-high 18 points as ULM
defeated Centenary 87-61 on Tuesday at the Gold Dome.
Courtney,
a native of Holden, La., made 6 of 8 shots, including two 3-pointers to pace four
ULM players in double figures. Courtney also went 4-of-4 from the free throw
line.
Senior
forward Sannisha Williams chipped in 16 points and five rebounds, while junior
center Larrie Williams added 14 points and four blocks. Sophomore guard Ashley
Wakefield tied her career high with 10 points on 3-of-4 shooting.
The
Warhawks shot a season-high 65.5 percent in the second half to build a 20-point
advantage. ULM finished the game with a season-best 55.6 percent in the game.
Ne-Ne
Cook led Centenary with 16 points and seven assists and Megan Daniel added 11
points for the Ladies.
ULM
opened the second half on a 10-0 run, including six points from Sannisha
Williams as ULM took a 50-28 lead. Larrie Williams capped the run with a pair
of free throws and a layup.
Wakefield
knocked down a pair of 3-pointers to spark an 11-2 run that gave ULM a 70-47
lead midway through the second half.
ULM reeled
off a 10-0 run over the span of four minutes early in the first half to take a
20-6 lead at the 12:17 mark. Courtney led the early charge with eight points
during that stretch, including a 3-pointer that capped the run.
Junior
forward Marion Zollicoffer scored on a layup, then Wakefield added two free
throws to give ULM a 24-8 advantage at the 9:42 mark.
Katarina
Vidovic gave Centenary a lift off the bench with three 3-pointers in the first
half to help the Ladies cut the ULM lead under double digits at 31-22 with six
minutes to play before the break.
The
Warhawks answered with layups from Larrie Williams, Courtney and Sannisha
Williams - part of a 9-0 run - to extend the lead to 40-22 with 2:34 left in
the half.
The
Ladies scored the final six points of the half and trailed 40-28 at the break.
Courtney paced the Warhawks in the first half with 13 points on 4-of-6
shooting.
The
Warhawks will head to Las Cruces, N.M. over Thanksgiving break to play in the
New Mexico State Tournament Nov. 26-27. ULM will face Northern Iowa at 4 p.m.
on Nov. 26 and play either host New Mexico State or Alcorn State on Nov. 27.
