Trio of Warhawks Named to Sun Belt All-Anniversary Team; ULM Also Earns Top 10 Play and Moment Honors

Football
NEW ORLEANS -- A trio of former Warhawk players were named to Sun Belt Conference Tenth Anniversary Team and ULM's victory over Alabama in 2007 earned spots in the league's top 10 moments and top 10 plays list, the league office announced Monday.

Voting was open to all fans on the Sun Belt Conference's official website during the entire 2010 football season.

Linebacker Cardia Jackson, defensive back Chris Harris and punter Joel Stelly were all named to the All-Anniversary Team. ULM's 21-14 victory over Alabama on Nov. 17, 2007, was named one of the top 10 moments in Sun Belt history, while James Truxillo's forced fumble with Alabama 19 yards away from taking the lead in the fourth quarter was named one of the top 10 plays in Sun Belt history.

Jackson, who played at ULM from 2006-09, finished his career ranked just behind Harris for second in Sun Belt history with 381 career tackles. The Monroe, La., native was among the best tacklers in the NCAA during his tenure. Jackson ranked second among all active players in solo tackles and third among all active players in total tackles in the NCAA at the conclusion of the 2009 season.

A three-time All-Sun Belt selection, Jackson was named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year in 2009 and finished the 2008 season ranked eighth in the NCAA with 10.6 tackles per game. He became the first ULM player in 12 years to record over 100 tackles in back-to-back years.

Harris, who played at ULM from 2001-04, is the Sun Belt's all-time leader in career tackles with 383 and ranks second in career interceptions with 14. The current Chicago Bear was a two-time All-Sun Belt selection and led the NCAA with seven interceptions during the 2004 season. A native of Little Rock, Ark., Harris' 127 tackles in 2004 still rank as the third most in a single-season in league history.

Stelly, who played at ULM from 2002-05, was a three-time All-Sun Belt selection for the Warhawks. The native of Cecilia, La., averaged 44.2 yards per punt during his career at ULM; a number which leads the Sun Belt by 1.9 yards. Stelly ranks fourth in Sun Belt history with 216 career punts and third with 9,120 career punting yards. He has the top single-game punting average after booming 56.7 yards against UL-Lafayette in 2003 and has the top three averages for a season in Sun Belt history (46.3, 2003; 45.3, 2004; 44.6, 2005).
