NACOGDOCHES,
Texas - ULM struggled offensively in a 60-36 loss to Stephen F. Austin
Wednesday inside Johnson Coliseum.
The
Warhawks (4-10) shot just 36.6 percent from the field and had its lowest
scoring output of the season against the Lumberjacks. Stephen F. Austin, who
defeated ULM by one point back in November, finished 46.0 percent for the game and led by
as many as 28 points Wednesday.
Junior
guard Hugh Mingo was the lone Warhawks player in double figures with 11 points.
Mingo, a native of West Monroe, La., has now notched double figures in 11
straight games and has made a 3-pointer in each of the last 12 games.
Denzel
Barnes led three Lumberjacks in double figures with 13 points and four assists.
Eddie Williams tallied 12 points, while Jordan Glynn chipped in 11 points, nine
rebounds and four assists.
Stephen
F. Austin (8-3) scored the first six points of the game and never trailed. The Lumberjacks used a 13-4 run to take a 22-8 lead with 11:54 to
play in the first half.
Mingo
hit a 3-pointer and drove to the hole for a layup to get ULM within 11 at 26-15
at the 6:43 mark before Stephen F. Austin used a 6-1 spurt to push out to its
biggest lead of the half at 33-17. The Lumberjacks led 35-19 at the break.
The
Warhawks shot 47.4 percent in the first half, but made just 1 of 7 shots from
3-point range and were unable to get to the free-throw line.
The
Lumberjacks built a 20-point advantage early in the second half at 44-24 on a free
throw from Eddie Williams. Barnes hit a pair of 3-pointers to help Stephen F.
Austin to its biggest lead of the game at 60-32 with 3:51 to play.
The
Warhawks dip back into conference play against FIU Sunday at 3 p.m. inside
Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
