MONROE,
La.-ULM Director of Athletics Bobby Staub announced the 2010 ULM football
schedule on Monday. The schedule is highlighted by five home games at Malone Stadium
and a pair of in-state non-conference matchups against Southeastern Louisiana
and LSU.
"I
am excited about this schedule and feel that there are some attractive matchups
for our fans and some competitive games for our team," ULM head coach Todd
Berry said. "The Sun Belt is an extremely competitive conference and there is a
lot of parity in the league which makes for exciting games for our fans."
Following
a bye week to open the season, the Warhawks have a home game in Little Rock,
Ark., against Arkansas on Sept. 11. The last time the two teams met ULM held a
24-6 second half lead over the Razorbacks and came within one point, 28-27, of
leaving Little Rock with the victory.
The
Warhawks return to the Natural State one week later (Sept. 18) for their Sun
Belt Conference opener against Arkansas State. ULM defeated the Red Wolves
16-10 on ESPN2 last season in Malone Stadium.
The
Malone Stadium opener is set for Sept. 25 when the Warhawks play host to
Southeastern Louisiana in the first meeting between the two schools since 1985.
The second of three SEC Western Division opponents awaits the Warhawks next as
they travel to Auburn on Oct. 2 to take on the Tigers for the eighth time in
program history.
Florida
Atlantic visits Monroe on Oct. 9 and the Warhawks will be looking to break an
unusual trend in that series as the visitor has won all six of the previous
meetings.
ULM
then hits the road for four of its next five games beginning with a pair of Sun Belt
Conference tilts at Western Kentucky (Oct. 16) and Middle Tennessee (Oct. 23).
A
matchup with defending Sun Belt champion Troy on Oct. 30 breaks up the road
trip. The last time the Trojans visited Monroe the Warhawks handed them their
only league loss of the year, 31-30, in 2008.
The
first Saturday in November (Nov. 6) sends ULM to Miami, Fla., for a date with Florida International.
The Warhawks are a perfect 6-0 all-time in Sun Belt games played in the state
of Florida having defeated FAU four times in Ft. Lauderdale and FIU two times
in Miami.
The
final road game of the season for the Warhawks is an in-state battle with LSU
in Tiger Stadium on Nov. 13. It will be just the second meeting between the two schools
and first since 2003.
ULM
wraps up the season with home contests against North Texas on Nov. 20 and
Louisiana-Lafayette on Nov. 27.
Season
tickets for ULM's five home games at Malone Stadium can be purchased by calling
the ULM ticket office at 318-342-3ULM, by visiting the ticket office in Malone
Stadium or by e-mailing warhawktickets@ulm.edu.
