MONROE, La.-Military Night
sponsored by the National Guard at ULM's Warhawk Field is set for Saturday
afternoon when the Warhawk baseball team squares off against Sun Belt Conference
rival Arkansas State.
The Warhawks will wear limited edition camouflage jerseys to commemorate the day.
The jerseys will then be auctioned off following the game with all the proceeds
benefiting the ULM baseball program. Bidding will start at $150 for the one-of-a-kind
jerseys.
"Wearing special jerseys
always adds a little extra excitement to game day," ULM head coach Jeff
Schexnaider said. "Fans look forward to purchasing game-worn apparel and this
is a great opportunity to support the Warhawks. Honoring the military makes this day even more special.
When the soldiers took the field with us two years ago, it gave everybody in
the dugout chill bumps."
A National Guard member will
throw out the first pitch and patriotic music will be played at Warhawk Field
throughout the game.
First pitch for the game is
scheduled for 4 p.m. and tickets can be purchased at the ULM ticket office in
Malone Stadium or by phone at 318-342-3ULM.
