JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-ULM
defensive end Aaron Morgan signed a free agent contract with the NFL's Jacksonville
Jaguars on Saturday. One of the top pass rushers in the country last season,
Morgan earned all-Sun Belt and all-Louisiana honors after finishing with 9.0
sacks in 2009.
"Having a chance to play in
the NFL is everything I have always wanted, dreamed of and hoped for," Morgan
said. "I had been talking to the Jaguars throughout the draft and it was a
great burden lifted off my chest when we finalized all of the details."
Morgan finished his senior season first in the Sun Belt and 23rd
in the NCAA with his 9.0 sacks. The Amite, La., native also finished second in
the Sun Belt and 16th in the NCAA with 17.0 tackles for loss. His
single-season sack total ranked as the eighth best in ULM and Sun Belt history
and he finished his collegiate career ranked second all-time in the Sun Belt
with 22.0 career sacks.
