Three Warhawks Named All-Louisiana Honorable Mention

Men's Basketball
MONROE, La. -- The ULM men's basketball team had three players honored by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) on Saturday (April 3) as All-Louisiana honorable mention selections. Senior guards Dynile Forbes and Tony Hooper as well as junior forward Tommie Sykes each received honors from the LSWA.

Forbes led ULM in scoring, averaging 12.3 points per game and made a team-best 60 three-point field goals. He finished the season 84-of-107 (78.5 percent) from the free-throw line, which ranked in the top-10 in the Sun Belt Conference. He was the only player to start all 31 games for the Warhawks this season and was twice named the LSWA Player of the Week. Forbes scored in double-figures a team-best 20 times.

Hooper finished the season averaging 11.3 points per game; he also led ULM in assists (73) and steals (47). Hooper set the ULM career record for steals, finishing his career with 208. He also ranks second in all-time three-point field goals made (236), sixth in career scoring (1,592 points) and seventh in assists (339). Hooper scored a season-high 30 points in ULM's first round Sun Belt Tournament victory over Louisiana-Lafayette. This is the third time he has been honored with post-season accolades by the LSWA; he was an All-Louisiana Second Team selection following both the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons.

In his first season of division one basketball after transferring from Odessa College, Sykes averaged 10.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, 15th-best in the Sun Belt. Despite being just 6-4, Sykes played power forward much of the season and led the Warhawks in rebounding in 11 games. He also earned his way to the free-throw line a team-best 218 times, converting 158 of those chances (72.5 percent). Sykes scored in double-figures in 15 games.

Louisiana-Lafayette's Tyren Johnson was named the 2010 Louisiana Player of the Year. Kerry Rupp of Louisiana Tech earned Coach of the Year honors while Northwestern State's Will Pratt was named the Newcomer of the Year and Daman Starring of Centenary was awarded Freshman of the Year honors.
