ULM Freshman Judd Edwards Named to All-Louisiana Baseball Team

Baseball
NATCHITOCHES, La. - ULM freshman Judd Edwards was named to the All-Louisiana Baseball Second Team as a utility player, the Louisiana Sports Writers Association announced Saturday. Edwards became ULM's 30th All-American earlier this week when Ping!Baseball named the Oxford, Ala., native to its All-America Second Team.

Edwards, who finished second in the Louisiana Freshman of the Year voting, started double-digit games at three different positions in 2010 - the mark of a true utility player. He earned 22 starts in left field, 15 at first base, 11 at shortstop, one at second base and one as the designated hitter.

He batted at a .333 clip with 11 doubles, a pair of home runs, 20 RBIs and five stolen bases in his rookie campaign with the Warhawks. Edwards paced the Warhawks in Sun Belt Conference play as he batted a team-high .333 and struck out just 10 times in 132 at-bats.

Edwards had multiple hits in 22 different games - second best on the team - and hit safely in 42 of the 53 games he played in, including 27-of-30 Sun Belt games. He had the game-tying and game-winning RBIs in back-to-back at-bats in the seventh and ninth innings against Sun Belt champion Florida Atlantic and had multiple doubles in a game on three different occasions.
