MONROE,
La. - ULM suffered a 2-1 setback to Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Tuesday afternoon at
the ULM Soccer Complex.
The
loss is the fourth straight setback by one goal for the Warhawks, who dropped
to a record of 2-6. It also marked the seventh time in eight matches that a ULM
match has been decided by one goal. The Warhawks outshot the Lady Lions 11-9 in
the match and had a 6-2 advantage on corner kicks.
"I
felt like we played hard, and it's another one-goal game we should have won,"
said ULM coach Stacy Lamb. "We need to work on playing for a full 90 minutes."
The
Warhawks fell behind 2-0 at the break before igniting a rally in the second
half. Freshman forward Megan Lindholm gave the Warhawks their only goal of the
afternoon in the 66th minute on an assist from freshman defender Brittany
Parker to cut the lead in half at 2-1.
"We
came out flat for the first 25 minutes or so in the second half and then I
thought we dominated the second part of the second half," said Lamb.
Arkansas-Pine
Bluff (5-2) grabbed an early lead in the 13th minute on a goal from Nicole
Parks-Powell. The Lady Lions pushed the lead to 2-0 before halftime on a goal from
Silvia Fuentes at the 36:54 mark.
Senior
midfielder Amy Porch led ULM with three shots in the match. Porch, Lindholm and
junior defender Stacey Carmack each had one shot on goal in the match.
