BATON ROUGE - ULM quarterback
Kolton Browning has been named the Louisiana Offensive Player of the Week for
his performance this past Saturday at Arkansas State, the Louisiana Sports
Writers Association announced Monday afternoon.
Browning, a redshirt freshman
from Mabank, Texas, received nine of the 16 votes and had six more votes than
the next closest player.
The ULM signal caller
completed 19-of-32 pass attempts for 267 yards and a pair of touchdowns while
rushing for 83 yards on 18 carries - he gained 104 yards on the ground before
subtracting negative plays. Browning's 350 yards of total offense were the most
by a ULM player since Kinsmon Lancaster accumulated 402 yards (264 passing, 138
rushing) against Middle Tennessee back in 2007 and the fifth most since ULM
joined the Sun Belt Conference in 2001.
Browning threw touchdown
passes to Brent Leonard (33 yards) and Luther Ambrose (10 yards) in the game
and completed passes to seven different receivers. His passing yardage total was the 12th highest among all Football Bowl Subdivision (IA) quarterbacks last week.
The Warhawks open the Malone
Stadium partition of their schedule on Saturday when they host Southeastern
Louisiana at 6 p.m. Tickets for the game can be purchased at the ULM ticket
office in Malone Stadium, online at ulmwarhawks.com or by calling 318-342-3ULM.
