MONROE, La. - FIU scored three early goals to slip past ULM 3-0
Thursday in Sun Belt soccer action at the ULM Soccer Complex.
FIU (10-6-1, 7-1-1 SBC) scored all three goals in the first 20 minutes
of the match to build its advantage. The two teams played to a draw the rest of
the way as the ULM defense settled in.
The Panthers grabbed the lead in the 13th minute on Kim Lopez's third
goal of the season. Lopez received a nice pass from Chelsea Leiva in the middle
of the box and drilled the ball into the left side of the net for the goal.
Victoria Miliucci scored two minutes late at the 14:59 mark to give FIU
a 2-0 advantage. FIU scored again in the 20th minute when Leiva knocked home
her third goal of the season.
ULM (5-12-1, 0-9-0 SBC) had five shots in the match from five different
players. Freshman Alyssa Wooden, junior Kylie McIntyre and senior Stacey
Carmack each had shots on goal.
The Warhawks travel to face Florida Atlantic at 11 a.m. CT Sunday in
its final road match of the season.
