MONROE,
La. - The ULM soccer team dropped its season finale 4-0 to rival UL-Lafayette
Friday on a cold and wet afternoon at the ULM Soccer Complex. It marked the
final match for ULM seniors Emily Lybarger, Stacey Carmack and Maddy Ocon, who
were honored prior to the match.
UL-Lafayette
(6-12-2, 2-8-1 SBC) got a pair of goals each from Shelby Isley and Melissa
Minton to help the Ragin' Cajuns to their second consecutive victory in the
series.
The
Warhawks (5-14-1, 0-11-0 SBC) managed just six shots in the match - three of
which came from freshman Taylor Bonetti. Bonetti finished her first season at ULM
with team highs in goals (6), points (15) and shots (36).
Isely
put the Ragin' Cajuns on the board with a goal in the 10th minute when she got dribbled
past the goalkeeper for the tap in. Minto followed with a goal in the 39th minute
to give UL-Lafayette a 2-0 advantage.
In the
second half, Isley struck for a goal in the 55th minute and Minton scored in the
65th minute to put the match out of reach.
Junior
Alex Holland and sophomore Hannah Linzay split time at goalkeeper with both
allowing two goals in the match. Linzay paced the Warhawks with six saves.
