Monroe, La. - Per terms of the Maroon &
Gold Blood Series recently held at Warhawk Field, players from the ULM baseball
team traveled to the LifeShare Blood Center Monday afternoon to donate blood.
"It's a way to get out into the community and
show everyone what 'ULM Baseball' is all about," junior Judd Edwards said. "If it weren't for the community we wouldn't
be here, so any time we can give back we try to do that."
Maroon defeated Gold 3-2 in the best-of-five
series held Oct. 21 through Oct. 30. According
to the rules of the intrasquad matchup, all members of the losing team in the
annual series are expected to make a blood donation soon after. With only the Gold team obligated to fulfill
the stipulation, a host of players from both teams chose to donate to the blood
center.
"We've had a great response," said coach Jeff
Schexnaider. "A lot of times members
from the team that won go and donate blood.
It's a good thing for our team, for our community, and it's something
that we look forward to every year."
