MONROE, La. - The ULM soccer team exploded for a 6-0 victory against
Grambling Friday afternoon at the ULM Soccer Complex. The six goals scored is
the most for the Warhawks since the 2005 season.
The Warhawks held a 20-4 shots advantage, including a 13-1 edge in
shots on goal for the match. Sophomores Taylor Epperson and Alyssa Lopez each
had a pair of goals in the match, while freshmen Taylor Bonetti and Alyssa
Wooden each netted one goal for ULM.
The Warhawks got on the board in the third minute when freshman Bonetti
dribbled past her defender and drilled a goal into the lower right portion of
the net. The goal was Bonetti's fourth of the season.
Epperson scored the next two goals in a three-minute span to give the
Warhawks a 3-0 advantage. Her first goal came on a shot from 20 yards out that
snuck past the goalkeeper in the upper left corner at the 8:34 mark. Epperson scored
again at the 11:20 mark off a cross from junior Kylie McIntyre.
Lopez rounded out the scoring in the first half with a shot from 20
yards out that found the left corner of the net at the 21:52 mark.
Wooden scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 63rd
minute on a feed from Lopez to make the score 5-0. Lopez finished off the
scoring with her second goal of the match - in the 64th minute - off
a feed from Bonetti.
Junior Alex Holland recorded the shutout with one save in her first
action in goal this season.
The Warhawks return home against Mississippi Valley State Sunday at 2
p.m. at the ULM Soccer Complex.
