MONROE, La. - The ULM soccer team came from behind to defeat Mississippi Valley State 2-1 in overtime Sunday afternoon at the ULM Soccer Complex. With the victory, the Warhawks moved to 5-3-1 on the season - the most wins in a season since 2007.

ULM put the match away 4:45 into the overtime period when freshman Bethany Park snuck a shot under a diving attempt from MVSU goalkeeper Kristin Swanson for the game winner. Sophomore Alyssa McAtee was credited with the assist.

Park is the fourth ULM freshman to notch a goal on the season, joining Amanda Williams (2), Alyssa Wooden (5) and Taylor Bonetti (4). The four have combined for 12 of the teams' 20 goals this season.

Despite the close match, the Warhawks held a dominating 18-5 shots advantage, including a 10-1 lead in the second half. ULM also had a 9-4 advantage in shots on goal and a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Mississippi Valley State (0-5-1) struck first when Josee Primeau scored off a rebound in the 15th minute. The Devilletes would get just one more shot attempt in the match following the goal.

ULM answered in the 71st minute on Williams' second goal of the season to tie the match at 1-1. Williams scored the goal on a header off a corner kick from freshman Katherine Cuntz.

Despite 10 shots in the second half, the Warhawks managed just the one goal in regulation.

Junior goalkeeper Alex Holland moved to 2-0-0 on the season with three saves in the match.

The Warhawks open conference play on the road at Troy on Sept. 23 at 3 p.m.
