MONROE, La. - The court inside Fant-Ewing Coliseum will have a new look
to it when the ULM men's and women's basketball teams begin play in November.
The court has been redesigned and repainted with a fresh look, which includes
the primary ULM logo at center court and "Warhawks" on each baseline. It is the
first major renovation to the court since the fall of 2006.
"I want to thank (Athletic Director) Bobby Staub for putting this thing
together and getting it done," men's basketball head coach Keith Richard said. "The
court looks great and this is another step forward in rebuilding our program."
The redesign also accommodates the new women's 3-point line, which
moves back a foot to 20 feet, 9 inches (the same as the men) and the addition
of the charge circle underneath each basket.
"With the women going to a new 3-point
line and the addition of the area for charges under the goal throughout college
basketball, it was the right time for the floor upgrades," women's
basketball head coach Mona Martin said.
Fant-Ewing Coliseum has received several upgrades since 2009, including
a new scoreboard and new scorer's tables.
The court will be showcased for the first time Tuesday (Nov. 1) when
the ULM men's basketball team takes on Lubbock Christian in an exhibition game
at 7 p.m.
