BOCA RATON, Fla. - Greg Gantt scored a game-high 20 points and Raymond
Taylor added 10 as Florida Atlantic topped ULM 58-30 Thursday evening inside
FAU Arena.
Florida Atlantic (5-10, 1-1 SBC) held ULM to just 19.5 percent shooting
and its lowest scoring output of the season. Senior Hugh Mingo led the Warhawks
with 12 points, including an 8-of-8 effort from the free-throw line. Senior
Fred Brown had six points and six rebounds, and sophomore Charles Winborne
chipped in six points and two assists for ULM.
The Owls broke the game open with a 13-1 midway through the second half
to take a commanding 46-24 lead. Taylor had nine points and two assists during
that stretch, and he capped the run with a 3-pointer with 8:15 remaining.
ULM (1-15, 0-3 SBC) fell behind 11-0 to start the game, missing its
first nine shots from the field. Winborne put the Warhawks on the board with a
3-pointer to cut the Florida Atlantic advantage to 11-3 at the 10:15 mark of
the half. The Owls led 23-7 at halftime.
The Warhawks got things going early in the second half and got within
31-21 with 12:02 to play before the Owls took control for good.
