MONROE, La. -- South Alabama
scored a pair of goals in each half to pick up a 4-0 victory over ULM Thursday
afternoon in a Sun Belt Conference match at the ULM Soccer Complex.
The victory improved the Jaguars to 8-8-2 overall, 3-4-1 in the Sun
Belt, while the Warhawks dropped to 4-13 overall, 1-7 in the Sun Belt.
The Jaguars got on the board quickly as Madison Rodwell scored in the second minute off an assist from Clarissa Hernandez for a 1-0 advantage.
South Alabama added a goal from Alyssa
Mayer in the 28th minute to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
South Alabama held an 11-6 advantage in shots at halftime.
The ULM defense held strong for the first 20 minutes of the second
half, but South Alabama broke the match open when Hernandez got fouled in the
box and converted the penalty kick for a 3-0 advantage in the 67th minute.
Shawna Trunca added a goal
in the 87th minute off a corner kick for the final margin.
The Warhawks finished with 12 shots and were led by freshman Karlea Fehr's eight attempts.
ULM hosts Troy on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the ULM Soccer Complex in its
final home match of the season. The Warhawks will honor seniors Kylie McIntyre, Kaitlin Morin and Alex
Holland prior to the match.
