LAFAYETTE,
La. -- ULM's season came to a close with
a 2-1 loss to UL-Lafayette on Friday at the Cajuns Track/Soccer Complex. The
Warhawks held a 1-0 lead at halftime, but the Ragin' Cajuns scored a pair of
goals in the span of a minute early in the second half to earn the victory.
The Warhawks finished the season
with a record of 4-15 overall, 1-9 in the Sun Belt. Seniors Alex Holland, Kylie McIntyre and Kaitlin
Morin also played in their final match for the Warhawks.
Things looked good early for the
Warhawks as sophomore Bethany Park
scored her first goal of the season in the 15th minute to give ULM a 1-0
advantage. Despite being outshot 12-5, the Warhawks took a lead into halftime
for the first time in Sun Belt play this season.
UL-Lafayette came out firing in the
second half and got on the board at the 52:37 mark on a goal by Kayla Henrie. The Ragin' Cajuns took
the lead just seconds later on a goal from Maci
Andrus at the 52:43 mark.
ULM struggled offensively in the
second half with just two shots in the final 45 minutes. Freshmen Antonio Land and Karlea Fehr each had two shots to pace the Warhawk offense. Fehr
finished the season as the Warhawks' leading scorer with five goals, five
assists and 15 points.
