MONROE -Among a host of student-focused gameday activities, ULM
students will have a unique opportunity to "Claim the Name" of the student
section in Fant-Ewing Coliseum, the home of Warhawk Basketball, by voting
during Thursday night's Sun Belt Conference opener before the area receives a
facelift with new banners and signs.
The Warhawks host Western Kentucky to open league action on
Thursday (Nov. 29) with the women's team tipping the doubleheader at 5:15 p.m.
The men's contest will follow, and a host of activities for students will be
offered throughout the evening.
A new entrance for ULM students only will be open for the
first time and will be located on the West side of the coliseum, giving
students more convenient access to Sections 109-112. At the entrance, students
will have the opportunity to pick up a "Claim the Name" ballot, which will
double as an entry into a drawing for one of two iPods to be given away on
Thursday.
Students will also be able to enjoy free Raising Cane's
(while supplies last) during the doubleheader. Voting for the name of the
student section will take place until halftime of the men's game, and the selected
name will be unveiled with new banners and signage at the next game (women vs.
Southern Miss - Dec. 9). One winner of the iPod giveaway will be announced
between games while the other will be announced at halftime of the men's
matchup.
Additionally, one student will be given the chance to win free Raising Cane's for an entire year. Students are encouraged to be creative
and develop gameday signs to fill the student sections. The student who makes
the most creative sign will have the opportunity to take a half-court shot and
win a year's supply of Raising Cane's with a made basket from the mid-court
stripe.
Currently, ULM students are seated in sections 111-113 and
the ULM Technical Fowls pep band occupies section 110. The freshly branded area
will shift to include sections 109-112, making the pep band a focal point of
the student section.
On the ballot for potential student section names are the
Hawk's Nest, Hoops Hangout, Fant Fanatics Student Zone, Hawk's Hangar and Warhawk Landing. Students must attend the
Thursday night game to vote and each may vote only once.
