Box Score THIBODAUX, La. - The ULM tennis team lost
only four sets in its nine combined matches, downing Nicholls State 6-1 Saturday
afternoon at the Colonel Tennis Complex.
The Warhawks have won four consecutive team matches to open the 2012
campaign.
ULM's Sophie Rufyikiri and Silvia Tumova downed
the Nicholls State tandem of Catherine Gauthier and Marina Ljoshevska 8-5, and
Monica Winkel and Medy Blankvoort followed with an 8-6 win over Parija Maloo
and Janna Leeuwerik to claim the doubles point for the Warhawks.
Blankvoort defeated Andrea Pont Grau 6-0, 2-0
(ret.) to open singles play, followed by a 6-3, 6-4 Winkel triumph over
Leeuwerik. Nicholls State (1-1) gained
its only point of the afternoon when Maloo fought off Rufyikiri in straight
sets 6-4, 7-6.
Isabelle Rocher picked up ULM's third singles
point with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Gauthier.
Nationally ranked Vivian Polak remained perfect in singles play this
season with a 6-1, 6-4 sweep of Ljoshevska.
Tumova claimed the day's final point, outlasting Marie Aubert 2-6, 6-1,
6-1.
ULM returns to action Feb. 16 when it takes
on Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss.
