MONROE, La. - The ULM baseball team shifted
focus from its Sun Belt Conference weekend series against Florida Atlantic to
welcome guests to Warhawk Field April 14.
The Dixie Diehards, a baseball league comprised entirely of players with disabilities, took to the diamond with ULM players and coaches
for a friendly exhibition. The Diehards
hit, ran the bases and mingled with the Warhawks, also taking time for
autograph and photo opportunities with their favorite ULM players.
"This is an event that we do every year, and
it is great for all involved," ULM head coach Jeff Schexnaider said. "Our kids get to experience how fortunate they
are and see how much the Dixie Diehards love the game of baseball. It's a joy
to see the smiles on their faces and to witness the passion and determination
the Dixie Diehards have for this great game. We love this event."
