MONROE, La. - ULM softball added to its spring recruiting
class Thursday with the announcement that head coach Rosemary Holloway-Hill
signed Cayla Unverzagt to a National Letter of Intent for the 2013 season.
A 5'8" senior out of Long Beach, Calif., Unverzagt is a
four-year letterwinner for Lakewood HS under head coach Andy Miramontes.
Primarily an outfielder, she has experience as a first and third baseman as
well.
She has been an important part to the Lancers' success over
her tenure with the team, which have been the Moore League champions every year
since her freshman campaign. Her key performances earned her Most Valuable
Player recognition in both 2009 and 2010, her freshman and sophomore seasons.
Unverzagt also plays summer ball on the Gold Team for
California Pure Fastpitch. Along with ULM, she was sought after by UNC-Charlotte
and Sonoma State.
Unverzagt joins a sizeable recruiting class and is the
eighth signee from three states to join the Warhawks for next season. The Class of
2013 includes early signees Courtney Dutriex
of Luling, La., Amye Barre of Metairie La., Hope Mair of Des Allemande, La., Emily
Trahan of Kaplan, La., Faith Bohack and Kayla Prater of Conroe, Texas, and
fellow spring signee Summer Melancon of Boutte, La.
