GRAMBLING, La. - ULM used a late goal from junior Taylor Epperson and its first shutout of the season to sneak by Grambling State 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Grambling Field. The win was the first for Roberto Mazza as ULM's head coach as the Warhawks moved to 1-1 on the season.

"Grambling is a tough place to play and I was very proud of how the girls adjusted to the conditions of the field," Mazza said. "We started off slow, but we came out with a lot of intensity in the second half and we found a way to win. We need to come out with the same kind of intensity in our next match."

Epperson took a pass from freshman Karlea Fehr in the box and drilled her shot into the right side of the net in the 79th minute to give the Warhawks a 1-0 advantage. Fehr and sophomore Bethany Park were each credited with assists on the play.

ULM controlled most of the match and finished with a 13-7 shots advantage. Freshman Kelley O'Dwyer led the Warhawks with four shots, including two on goal.

Junior Karlin Aloisio and senior Alex Holland combined for five saves in goal to earn the shutout.

The Warhawks travel to Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Aug. 29) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. for the first of three matches next week.
