PINE BLUFF, Ark. - ULM
scored two early second-half goals en route to a 3-0 victory over Arkansas-Pine
Bluff Wednesday at the UAPB Soccer Field. It marked the second straight victory
for the Warhawks, who moved to 2-1 on the season.
Freshman Karlea Fehr led the Warhawks with a goal and two assists,
giving her a team-leading seven points on the season. Sophomore Taylor Bonetti
and freshman Kelley O'Dwyer each added their first goals of the season.
The Warhawks dominated the match with a 19-5 advantage in shots, but it
took almost 49 minutes for ULM to take control against UAPB (0-4).
Fehr put the Warhawks on the board at the 48:33 mark on assists from O'Dwyer
and sophomore Bethany Park. ULM added its second goal three minutes later off a
cross from Fehr that deflected off freshman Mariah Mitchell before finding
Bonetti, who scored in the right side of the net.
ULM took a 3-0 advantage in the 71st minute when O'Dwyer headed
in a goal off a cross from Fehr.
The ULM defense has been stellar through the first three matches as it
recorded its second straight shutout. Senior Alex Holland recorded five saves
to lead the defensive effort.
The Warhawks are back in action this weekend at the Southern Miss
Tournament in Hattiesburg, Miss. ULM takes on host Southern Miss Saturday at 10
a.m. and wraps up the tournament Monday against Mississippi State at 12:30 p.m.
