ULM Reaches Partnership with TownSquare Media

Football

MONROE, La. - The ULM department of athletics has reached an agreement with Shreveport, La., radio group TownSquare Media to air seven regular season football games during the 2012 season.  Both KEEL 710 and KWKH 1130 AM (50,000 WATT AM signals) will air select ULM football games in 2012. ULM alumni and fans living in the Shreveport area can also listen to Warhawk football on 92.1 FM (three games remaining in 2012) owned by AccessOne Radio group.  All games of the 2012 ULM football season can also be heard on the Warhawk Football flagship station KJLO 104.1 FM (Monroe) owned by The Radio People in Monroe.

ULM Athletics Director Bobby Staub's vision to expand the ULM radio network into key markets includes additional programming in the Shreveport market over the next several years.  "Our long term goals have always included the proper structure and growth of our radio network," said Staub. "It is important for us to make sure our alumni, fans, and supporters can hear the live game broadcasts each week.  We have continuously strived to create a healthy, efficient relationship with the greater Shreveport area, which represents one of the largest ULM alumni markets."

"We believe our ability to deepen the relationship with our fan base and alumni, is to build out our radio network.  This process will take some time.  We have committed to adding coaches' shows, update shows and additional programming throughout our footprint," Staub continued.

"Sports marketing and programming has continued to grow nationally and advertisers want live, 'appointment' programming and nothing attracts advertisers, audiences, and fans like college football," said Rick Thompson of CRA.  "ULM has a terrific on-field product, a very loyal and passionate alumni following, a loyal and dedicated fan base and the ability to attract local and state-wide advertiser.  We have witnessed an increase in local and regional advertising interest in the Warhawks over the past several months.  The Warhawks Sports Marketing group has improved its ability to package and present the variety of advertising inventory available to the ULM Athletic Department."

ULM has identified the radio network growth along I-20 and I-10 interstate corridors, matching ULM Alumni populations while attracting radio advertisers interested in reaching the college sports listeners.  College sports sponsorships traditionally deliver affluent, educated homeowners - at a higher percentage than the national average of any other fan group.

"Annually, we are going to advertise in the greater Monroe and Shreveport markets," said Rick Ellis, Vice President-Marketing for Brookshire Grocery Company (Brookshire's and Super1 Foods).  "Our advertising investment with ULM athletics allows for community-based partnerships that have a direct and immediate impact back to our 23 stores in the Monroe/Shreveport markets.  It just makes sense for us to partner with the Warhawks."
