HAMMOND, La. - Southeastern
Louisiana's Kayla Vera scored two
goals to lead the Lady Lions over ULM 3-0 on a humid Friday afternoon at the
Southeastern Soccer Complex.
Vera scored in the seventh minute on assists from Karly Dagys and Maiya Cooper
to give the Lady Lions (3-2) the early advantage. The ULM (2-4) defense clamped
down for the remainder of the half and kept the match at 1-0 at the break.
Vera added her second goal of the match in the 53rd minute when she ran
down a pass from Lauren Stillians and
scored to give the Lady Lions a 2-0 advantage. Cooper scored on a cross from
Stillians in the 62nd minute to put Southeastern Louisiana up 3-0.
The Lady Lions finished with a 14-8 advantage in shots and a 7-3
advantage in shots on goal. Sophomore Bethany
Park led the Warhawks with three shots, two that were on goal. Freshman Karlea Fehr also had two shot attempts
in the match.
Senior Alex Holland recorded
a match-high four saves in goal while playing all 90 minutes to lead the
Warhawk defense.
ULM continues its road trip at Nicholls State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
