MONROE, La. -- ULM
(3-13, 1-6) followed its best offensive game of the season with a 66-48 loss at
home against Middle Tennessee (11-5, 6-1) on Saturday afternoon. The Blue
Raiders have won all eight meetings with the Warhawks.
Ashleigh Simmons led ULM with her third double-double of the
season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Shin connected on three three-pointers to
continue her solid shooting. The Warhawks were just 6-of-17 from the free throw
line.
Ebony Rowe led all scorers with 32 points and nine rebounds
while Icelyn Elie collected a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Middle Tennessee started fast and led 11-4 at the arrival of
the first media timeout with 15:54 on the clock. The Blue Raiders stretched its
lead to 20-8 with less than 12 minutes to play as ULM struggled to find shots.
Shin hit a three-pointer to cut deficit to 25-16 at the
eight-minute mark before the visitors went on an 8-2 run to lead 33-18 with
five minutes left before the break.
At halftime, the Blue Raiders led 36-22 behind 15 points
from Rowe and nine points from Icelyn Elie. Elexar Tugler led the Warhawks with
five points.
Middle Tennessee started the second half on three-minute
scoring drought and ULM was able to pull within 36-25 with 17 minutes to play.
The Blue Raiders regrouped and found its first half momentum, leading 45-29
with 15:37 remaining.
The visitors began to run away with the game and led 59-39
with eight minutes to play. The deficit remained 20 points for the rest of the
contest as Middle Tennessee collected its sixth Sun Belt win.
ULM will begin a two-game road trip starting at
South Alabama on Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
