TROY, Ala. -- The ULM volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision against Troy (9-12, 4-3 Sun Belt) in its first trip to the brand-new Trojan Arena Sunday afternoon.
Freshman outside hitter Hope Pawlik led the Warhawks (5-18, 1-6 Sun Belt) with eight kills while junior middle blocker Alannah Cullum added six. Junior libero Marcela Araya added a match-high 18 digs to pace the defense. Meanwhile, Troy's Marija Zelenovic recorded a match-high 17 kills.
ULM fought valiantly in the final set to avoid the sweep, battling to seven ties. The Warhawks led at 22-20 but after the Trojans used a timeout, the hosts closed the set on a 5-1 rally and took the set 25-23 to complete the sweep.
Troy controlled the first two sets from the onset and took both by a tally of 25-17. ULM staged late rallies in both sets that fell short.
