Panthers Sweep Warhawks in First Sun Belt Meeting

ATLANTA -- Despite double-doubles from Hope Pawlik (11 kills, 10 digs) and Hadley Swartz (10 kills, 10 digs), ULM fell 3-0 at Georgia State Sunday afternoon.  It was the first meeting between the two schools as conference opponents.

In addition to Pawlik and Swartz, Kayla Kane posted 23 assists while Kaitlyn Shearer added four total blocks to lead the Warhawk effort.

In the first set Georgia State (6-17, 1-8 Sun Belt) and ULM (5-20, 1-8 Sun Belt) traded early runs to tie the score at 15-all before the Panthers used a 10-3 run to take the frame 25-18.

GSU would go into the break with a 2-0 lead after taking the middle stanza by a 25-17 tally.  The Warhawks fought off two set points late but could not build a run despite having an early 9-8 advantage.

The Panthers kept all of the momentum and took the final set 25-18 to complete the sweep.

Georgia State's Dede Bohanan recorded a match-high 14 kills while Eliza Zachary added 10 kills on 17 assists with no errors to hit at a .588 clip.

ULM returns home Friday night for a duel with Western Kentucky for its annual “Dig Pink” match.  First serve is at 7:00 p.m.
