MONROE, La. -- UALR outlasted ULM 70-60 on Thursday evening in a Sun Belt battle inside Fant-Ewing Coliseum. The Trojans shot 49 percent from the field and led by as many as 15 in the second half, but had to hold off a late comeback attempt from the Warhawks.

Sophomore Trey Lindsey scored a career-high 18 points to lead ULM, including a 4-of-6 effort from beyond the 3-point line. Lindsey capped a 9-0 run for the Warhawks with his final 3-pointer of the night to cut the UALR lead to 61-58 with 1:55 remaining.

The Trojans (15-10, 9-5 SBC) responded with a 3-pointer from Will Neighbour and a dunk from James White to push the lead to 66-58. UALR went 4-of-4 from the free-throw line down the stretch to finish off the victory.

"We responded much better and played harder and got some energy in the second half," ULM head coach Keith Richard said. "That's what happens when you do those things. In the first half, any little thing that went wrong, the guys put their heads down and looked down on themselves. We cut [the UALR lead] to two a couple of times but just couldn't get it done."

Josh Hagins paced the Trojans with 14 points, while Gus Leeper chipped in 12 points off the bench and Neighbour added 11 points.

UALR broke the game open with a 17-4 run to close out the first half and took a 36-23 lead into halftime. The Trojans went up 38-23 on a layup from Michael Javes to open the second half before managing just two points over the next seven minutes.

ULM (3-16, 2-11 SBC) embarked on a 15-2 run during that stretch to get within two points with 12:58 to play, but UALR answered right back with an 11-2 spurt to build its lead back to double-digits.

Junior Amos Olatayo scored on a layup in transition and a pair of 3-pointers by Lindsey sparked a final run for the Warhawks.

Junior Jayon James finished with 15 points and six assists and junior R.J. McCray finished with 10 points and a career-high seven assists for the Warhawks. Olatayo had his streak of three straight games with at least 21 points snapped as he finished with nine points and nine rebounds.

ULM travels to UL-Lafayette on Sunday for a 7:15 p.m. tipoff inside the Cajundome.
