NATCHITOCHES, La. -– ULM dropped both games Friday on the first day of the Northwestern State Lady Demon Invitational. The Warhawks (7-9) fell 4-2 to the hosts before losing 11-2 in five innings against Louisiana Tech in the night cap.

GAME ONE - Northwestern State 4, ULM 2

ULM dropped a hard-fought 4-2 game to Northwestern State (13-2) Friday. With the 4-2 defeat of the Warhawks, the Lady Demons extended their winning streak to nine in a row.

Cassandra Barefield's two-run home run to deep right in the bottom of the fourth proved to be the game-winning knock.

Northwestern State got on the board early. The Lady Demons had runners on second and third with one down. Brianna Rodriguez crushed a double to deep center to put NSU up 2-0. The Lady Demons had a chance to do more damage in the inning, but ULM sophomore starter Haylie Wilson retired the next two batters.

Senior right fielder Haley McCall led off the second inning with a single and moved to second thanks to some heads up base-running. McCall eventually scored on freshman designated player Hope Mair's RBI sacrifice fly. It was Mair's first collegiate RBI. The Warhawks tied the game on sophomore center fielder Mackenzie Miller's two-out RBI double.

Northwestern State's Brooke Boening was credited for the win after five innings of relief. Wilson suffered the loss and fell to 2-5.

GAME TWO - Louisiana Tech 11 ULM 2 (5 inn.)

ULM fell 11-2 in five innings against Louisiana Tech in Friday's finale.

Louisiana Tech (6-8) strung together three hits in the bottom of the second and quickly climbed to a 2-0 lead and added a run on a throwing error. The Lady Techsters made it 5-0 after Melanie Goff slapped an RBI single.  Jenna Frandrup singled through the middle to make it 7-0.

ULM got a run back in the top of the third on Faith Bohack's RBI single.

Alayna Kipp's three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth made it 10-1. The Lady Techsters added another run on an RBI sacrifice fly to build a 10-run lead.

Miller drove in the Warhawks' second run on a ground out in the top of the fifth.

Stephanie Routzon suffered the loss and fell to 5-4.

The Warhawks are back in action tomorrow against Alcorn State at 10:00 a.m. and Louisiana Tech at 5:30 p.m.
