LAKE CHARLES, La.
– ULM fell 1-0 Tuesday night at McNeese State in the in-state rivalry between
former conference foes.
The only run of the contest came in the Cowgirls' (24-7) third.
After drawing a walk, stealing second and reaching third on a wild pitch,
Alanna DiVittorio came around to score on Katie Roux's single through the middle
of the infield.
The Warhawks (13-15) had two chances to score, but left runners on
third both times.
Alexis Cacioppo singled to lead off the top of the fourth.
She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt then found her way over to third on
Amye Barre's two-out single, giving the Warhawks runners at the corners. ULM
failed to capitalize.
Both teams recorded four hits in the contest and left seven
runners on base. Haylie Wilson suffered the loss despite a great performance.
ULM returns to action Saturday at Troy. First pitch of the
twin bill is at 1 p.m.
