ULM Drops Series Finale to Troy

MONROE, La. -- After taking a 1-0 lead after one inning, Troy (15-7, 3-3) scored seven runs in the top of the second inning en route to a 10-0 victory over ULM (9-15, 1-5) Sunday afternoon at Warhawk Field.

Logan Pierce scored the first run of the game on Trae Santos delivered a RBI single to center to put the Trojans in front, 1-0.

In the second inning, Troy tallied seven runs on three hits to push its lead to 8-0.  Garrett Pitts highlighted the Trojan second inning with a two-RBI double to right field.  In all, Troy had 13 batters step in the batter's box during the second frame.

Logan Fiasco recorded the first hit of the game for the Warhawks with a leadoff single to center in the home half of the third.  Fiasco was left stranded at first base as the next three Warhawks were retired in order.

ULM threatened in the fifth as it loaded the bases with just one out.  Corben Green singled to short and Fiasco drew a walk to give the Warhawks runners at first and second with one out.  Dalton Herrington reached first and loaded the bases after center fielder Ali Knowles dropped the looping fly ball.  ULM was unable to push any runs across as Jeff Fuller grounded into a 6-4-3 double play.

Troy added a single run in the sixth and seventh innings to extend the lead to 10-0.  ULM was unable to push any runs across in the bottom of the seventh resulting in Sunday's contest being called after seven innings (Sun Belt Conference rule).

ULM starter Alex Dumaine (1-2) was tagged with the loss after six runs scored on his watch Sunday.  Dumaine allowed one earned run on two hits and five walks in 1.2 innings of work.

Troy starter Shane McCain (4-0) went the distance surrendering just two hits and one walk with seven strikeouts in seven innings of work (100 pitches).

The Warhawks will return to the diamond Tuesday evening with a 6:30 p.m. contest at  Northwestern State.
