MONROE, La. -- No. 20 South Alabama handed ULM two big losses at the ULM Softball Complex Saturday, downing the Warhawks 11-1 in six innings in the opener then 14-0 in five innings in the night cap.
Alexis Cacioppo was ULM's top performer, reaching base in both games. She went 2-for-2 with an RBI triple in game one and was hit by a pitch in game two.
GAME ONE - South Alabama 11, ULM 1 (6 innings)
The Jaguars scored first in the top of the first on Haley Fagan's RBI sacrifice bunt. ULM starter Stephanie Routzon escaped further damage by striking out Kaitlyn Griffith for the third out.
The Warhawks answered immediately in the second and scored off Hannah Campbell, who holds the second lowest ERA in the nation. Mackenzie Miller was hit by a pitch with two outs and scored on Cacioppo's triple down the left field line. It was Cacioppo's first triple of the year.
South Alabama took a 2-1 lead in the top of the second courtesy of Brittany Fowler's two-out RBI single. It remained a 2-1 ballgame until the flood gates opened in the top of the fifth.
Meghan Collins took a frozen-rope double to the left-center field wall that drove in two. The Jaguars added a run after a Warhawks error.
The big blow came in the South Alabama sixth inning. Alex Breeden capped a six-run, four-hit inning with a grand slam over the left centerfield wall.

Courtney Dutreix tallied the only other ULM hit in the contest.
GAME TWO -- South Alabama 14, ULM 0 (5 innings)
South Alabama scored early and often in Saturday's finale and hit a total of five home runs in the contest.
The Jaguars opened the contest with back-to-back home runs in the top of the first and leaped to a 3-0 lead from which ULM was never able to recover.
Blair Johnson smashed a two-run double in the South Alabama second inning and scored on Fagan's second moonshot of the evening as part of a five-run frame for the Jaguars.
