Warhawks Fall Victim in Five-Inning No-Hitter against Mean Green

Softball

DENTON, Texas -- ULM fell 8-0 in five innings in a no-hitter Sunday afternoon at Lovelace Stadium. It was North Texas starter Ashley Kirk's second no-hitter of the weekend.

Danielle Hoff hit a three-run blast with no outs in the bottom of the fifth to lift the Mean Green over the Warhawks (19-30, 3-17 Sun Belt),

North Texas (25-22, 12-9 Sun Belt) drew first blood on an RBI sacrifice fly to center off the bat of Karly Williams in the bottom of the second. Afterwards, the game was a pitchers' duel until the fourth.

In that frame, the Mean Green added a home run--a one-out solo shot from Taylor Schoblocher. Lesley Hirsch then slapped a bases-loaded double to center field that gave North Texas a 5-0 lead. She was cut down trying to stretch the knock into a triple.

ULM had just three base runners in the game, one via a walk, one on a hit batter and one reached on a fielder's choice.

Kirk fanned eight Warhawks in the no-hit effort.

ULM returns to action Saturday when they host UL-Lafayette in a double header.  First pitch is at 4 p.m.
