Warhawks Crush Southern Miss, 7-0

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The ULM tennis team rolled to its second straight victory with a 7-0 sweep at Southern Miss Friday at the USM Tennis Courts. The Warhawks won the doubles point for the 13th time in 14 tries this season and cruised through singles action to improve to 12-3.

Sophomore Sophie Rufyikiri and freshman Iris Van Leeuwen defeated Macie Case and Emily Nettles, 8-1, at No. 3 doubles and freshman Petra Horakova and sophomore Silvia Tumova topped Alexus Coats and Elanor Grossman, 8-1, at the No. 1 position to quickly seal the doubles point for the Warhawks.

Freshman Justyna Krol and junior Medy Blankvoort also knocked off Kate Lanier and Mackenzie Oskim in a close 8-7 decision at No. 2 doubles.

ULM cruised through singles action with all six players winning in straight sets.  Blankvoort, Horakova and Van Leeuwen each won, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 position, respectively.

Tumova won, 6-1, 6-0, against Grossman at the No. 3 position and Krol rolled past Oskin, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 4 position. Rufyikiri defeated Coats, 6-0, 6-4, at the No. 1 position to end the match in just two hours, 35 minutes.

ULM hosts Southern University in its final home match of the season on Thursday, April 11, at 2 p.m.
