ULM Falls to Rival UL-Lafayette on Senior Night

MONROE, La. -- ULM honored its group of seniors prior to Saturday's contest against UL-Lafayette, but the Ragin' Cajuns spoiled the Warhawks' festivities with a 12-1 win at Warhawk Field.

UL-Lafayette (38-17, 19-11) plated the game's first run in the top of the first when Jace Conrad scored on a Seth Harrison sacrifice fly to center.  The Ragin' Cajuns doubled the lead in the second inning when Chase Compton delivered a RBI triple (Harrison scored) down the right field line.

A big third inning aided the UL-Lafayette effort as the Ragin' Cajuns scored nine runs in the frame to take a 11-0 lead after just two and a half innings of play.  Compton (three RBI triple) and Harrison (two RBI double) highlighted the Ragin' Cajun third.

UL-Lafayette concluded its scoring with a single run in the fourth on a Michael Strentz sacrifice fly to left.

ULM (18-36, 7-23) plated its only run in the sixth when Justin Stawychny drove in Brandon Alexander with a RBI single to short.

Warhawk senior Shelby Aulds, one of 11 Warhawks honored prior to the game, was tagged with the loss after allowing eight runs on seven hits in his final start in a Warhawk uniform.  Aulds walked one and struck out two in 2.1 innings of work.  ULM also honored Taylor Abdalla, Alexander, Chris Dudley, Judd Edwards, Logan Fiasco, Corben Green, Stephen Lukinovich, Devin Malone, Andrew Richardson and Cale Wine.

Ryan Wilson, the UL-Lafayette starter, allowed just one run on four hits in 5.1 innings of work.  Wilson walked one and struck out three.  Conrad, Harrison and Compton paced the Ragin' Cajuns as they combined for seven hits, seven RBI and five runs.
