UALR Slips by ULM on Senior Day

Soccer

MONROE, La. – In senior Cerene Arsenault's final home game, the ULM soccer program outshot UALR and controlled the majority of the possession, but the Trojans were able to slip in a pair to take a 2-0 decision on Sunday at the ULM Soccer Complex on Senior Day.

ULM (7-8-1, 1-5 SBC) held a 14-12 edge in shots, 7-5 in shots on goal and 9-5 in corner kicks but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. The Warhawks saw one ball hit the post and another the crossbar.

The Trojans (10-4-1, 1-4-1 SBC) scored in the 11th and 76th minute from Louise Kallin and Lexus Van Pelt, respectively. Both goals were off deflections and rebounds. Fali Garuba assisted on both scores.

Arsenault continued her streak of starting every game on the season and it was also her 34th start in her last 35 games dating back to last year. She played 90 minutes alongside sophomore Whitney Tuckfield in the back.

Offensively, ULM saw sophomore Jenna Pillon, junior Karlea Fehr and freshman Cassidy Kunicyn fire three shots apiece.

Sophomore goalkeeper Katherine Werther (6-5) took the loss despite making three saves. UALR's Bre Ilkuf (5-2) picked up the win after recording seven stops.

The Warhawks will next hit the road for a long weekend that includes games at Texas State on Friday and Appalachian State on Sunday.
