BOONE, N.C. – The ULM soccer program rounded out its long, around the country weekend with a hard-fought 1-0 defeat to Appalachian State on Sunday at the Appalachian Soccer Stadium.

ULM (8-9-1, 2-6 SBC) garnered a team-high four shots in the game from junior Karlea Fehr, as well as attempts from sophomores Jenna Pillon, Kyle Kukowski and Allie Dickson. The Warhawks fired seven shots in the second half.

Sam Childress scored the lone goal in the game in the 29th minute for the Mountaineers (7-9, 4-3 SBC). Julia Holza sent in a cross that Childress headed into the far post.

Sophomore Katherine Werther (7-6) came through with another big performance in net, making 11 saves. App State's Megan Roberson (7-8) and Amy Kolowsky split duties in net, with Roberson picking up the win.

In addition to Werther, six other ULM student-athletes played 90 minutes including senior Cerene Arsenault and sophomores Antonia Land, Cameron Stoker, Whitney Tuckfield, Mary Ashton Lembo and Dickson.

It marked the first-ever game between the two teams as the Mountaineers are in their first season as a Sun Belt Conference member.

The Warhawks will close out the regular season next Sunday when they travel to rival UL-Lafayette for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
