MONROE, La. – After playing a key role in ULM's 74-65 season opening victory over UAB, senior Tylor Ongwae from the men's basketball program was named College Sports Madness Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week, announced Monday.

Ongwae, from Eldoret Kenya, tied a team-high with 18 points in the contest and neared a double-double with nine rebounds. It was his fourth consecutive double-figure scoring game dating back to last season and the 25th of his career.

The 6-7 forward scored the first basket of the season for the Warhawks with a runner in the lane in the first minute. He also hit a jumper in the second half to give ULM its biggest lead of the game at 65-50.

Ongwae was one of four ULM student-athletes to reach double-figures in the contest along with junior Justin Roberson (18 points), sophomore Nick Coppola (14 points) and junior Majok Deng (13 points).

The Warhawks will return to action tonight when they play their home opener against Champion Baptist at 7:00 p.m. at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
