MONROE, La. – The ULM soccer program was honored with the Sun Belt Conference 2014 Team Academic Achievement Award after posting the league's highest cumulative grade-point average, the league office announced.
Nine ULM student-athletes earned individual academic awards from the league including sophomores Whitney Tuckfield, Kylie Kukowski, Mary Ashton Lembo, Lauren Palmer, Amanda Borstelmann, Nancy Kirk, Jenna Pillon, Antonia Land and freshman Natalie Muller.
"I am very proud of the team, they are very disciplined in their academics. They study non-stop on the bus and in hotels on road trips,” said ULM head coach Roberto Mazza. “The girls work extremely hard in the classroom and have been rewarded with this extraordinary award from the Sun Belt Conference. These young women are a perfect representation of being a student athlete.”
ULM's success in the classroom has been well-documented under Mazza as the program is also the reigning Warhawk Cup champions for holding the highest team GPA on campus.
