LORMAN, Miss. – Sharnice Brooks had a team-high 12 points and eight rebounds but it was not enough as the ULM women's basketball team fell 62-53 to Alcorn State on Monday night in Davey Whitney Coliseum.
The Warhawks (2-3) shot 46.5 percent from the floor while limiting the Lady Braves (1-5) to 42.9 percent.
Alayshia Hunter, Ashley Aune, Olivia Countiss and Aleesha Coulter had six points each, while Daja Chase added four points and four rebounds.
Olivia Brown and Jazmin Strane each had 13 points for Alcorn State.
Alcorn State took an early lead, but the Warhawks responded quickly as Chase and Brooks both hit baskets to take a 4-2 lead with 17:56 left in the half.
ULM extended the lead to 12-6 with 13:42 remaining in the half as Chelsea Tieuel found the net.
The Warhawks fell behind, but they regained control as Aleesha Coulter hit a three-pointer with six seconds left in the half to give ULM a 26-24 lead heading into the locker room.
ULM extended the lead to 28-24 at the beginning of the second half as Hunter hit a layup, but Alcorn State battled back to take the lead.
The Warhawks return home on Saturday as they host McNeese State at 2:00 p.m. in Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
