MONROE, La. – Senior
Ashleigh Simmons led the ULM women's basketball program with 15 points and eight rebounds, but UALR used a 14-0 run in the second half to pull away and take a 63-47 decision on Saturday at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
Simmons went four-for-five from the field and hit seven free throws to pace the ULM (9-15, 5-7 SBC) offense. Senior
Alexar Tugler also reached double figures with 11 points and grabbed six rebounds. Senior

Christina Gray recorded eight points and eight rebounds.
The Trojans (13-10, 8-5 SBC) were led by Taylor Gualt who put in a game-high 18 points. Keanna Keys notched 11 points and Taylor Ford had 10.
As a team, ULM shot 45.8 percent from the field, compared to 41.0 percent from the Trojans.
UALR led 10-5 early in the first half when the Warhawks tied it, 10-10 after an old-fashion three-point play by Simmons with 10:44 left. After the Trojans went up 14-10, ULM responded with a 6-0 run to take the lead, 16-14 at the 7:23 mark with jumpers by
Jasmine Shaw,
Jade Wharton and A. Tugler.
The teams exchanged baskets for most of a closely contested half. It ended with a UALR three-pointer off the backboard to give the Trojans the lead on their final possession, 29-25.
ULM came out of the locker room hot in the second half and quickly took the lead, 30-29 after a three-pointer by A. Tugler and a lay-in by Simmons. The Warhawks trailed just 39-38 after a pair of made free throws by Simmons with 12:55 to go.
The Trojans reeled off a decisive 14-0 run to create separation and go up 53-38 with 8:12 remaining. UALR held a 26-8 edge in the turnover battle for the game.
The Warhawks will be back in action when they hit the road to take on Georgia State at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
